Tracking carbon footprints
Aaron Ward, Justin Fleming and Joe Monin use a light meter to measure the foot candle levels emitting from ceiling lights, window light, and such during the Next Step Program World Interest Class held at Next Step. The "Electrolights," the North High team, also have used instruments to measure temperature and kilowatt usage when conducting building assessments as they work to figure out ways for the schools to cut their carbon footprint. A grant was provided from Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon for North and Tartan. Minnesota Schools Cutting Carbon is a three year initiative for public high schools, colleges and universities to become more energy efficient and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
